Description
Jewel orchids are grown primarily for foliage. The lovely dark green burgundy leaves have golden veins. These terrestrial orchids grow on the forest floor and prefer low light. The stems twist and curve along the ground, and easily snap off. The stems bloom a spike of many small white flowers. Best grown in shallow pots. The roots like to creep just under the soil and will rot if kept too wet. Best in a light compost type mix, and let dry slightly. Keep from direct light.
