Description

Cast Iron. Once popular houseplants in the Victorian age, they were high status symbols, often appearing in the first photographs sitting on tables surrounded by the proud owners. These get their name Cast Iron Plants, for their ability to thrive in dark, dry, smoky parlors. It is truly a hard-to-kill plant. In fact, they are quite tolerant of most everything. For best growth, give them low-moderate light, water regularly, with good drainage. Additionally, the Japanese have selected many unusual cultivars over the centuries for their variegation or leaf patterns. This cultivar is Asashi, means Morning Sun, given by the glowing creamy white upper third of the leaves that develop as the leaf ages.
